New England Revolution reportedly struck a deal that will see their talented midfielder Esmir Bajraktarevic head to Eredivisie side PSV Eindhoven in a $6 million transfer.

Bajraktarevic will join his new club in January with Revolution being entitled to a percentage of any transfer fee that PSV receives for the player in the future.

Bajraktarevic has emerged as an important part of Revolution’sthe  starting lineup, contributing with four goals and four assists in the 2024 MLS season. Overall, he played 57 games with Revolution and 37 games for the club’s reserve team.

Born in Appleton, Wisconsin, Bajraktarevic represented the United States men’s national team through all youth levels. He also made a senior team appearance in 1-0 friendly loss to Slovenia in January.

However, the teenager ended up deciding to switch his international allegiance to Bosnia and Herzegovina, the birthplace of his parents, since then and has already made six appearances for this small Balkan nation.

At PSV, Esmir Bajraktarevic will be greeted by several former MLS and USMNT players and executives. The club’s sporting director is Earnie Stewart, former forward and midfielder who has 101 appearances for USMNT.  The club’s starting lineup features USMNT regulars Ricardo Pepi and Malik Tillman, and they also have U.S. internationals Sergino Dest and Richard Ledezma on their roster.
