Midfielder Lee Nguyen returned to the club where he arguably played the best soccer of his career.

New England Revolution announced on Tuesday that they have acquired Nguyen in a trade with Inter Miami CF. In order to get the 33-year-old midfielder, Revolution sent a fourth-round pick in 2021 and up to $50,000 in General Allocation Money (GAM) if the player hits certain marks with his new club.

Nguyen leaves Miami after playing just 92 minutes in five games this season.

“Lee Nguyen is a player with a proven history in our league. His ability as both a playmaker and goal scorer will complement our roster,” said the club’s sporting director and head coach Bruce Arena. “We are excited to have Lee return to our club and city, and we look forward to his contributions as we close out the 2020 season.”

Lee Nguyen wore New England’s jersey between 2012 and 2018, playing 206 games for the club and contributing with 52 goals and 49 assists during that period. Nguyen also earned one MLS Best XI selection during his time with the organization.

“New England is where I had some of the best and most memorable moments of my professional career, so having the opportunity to come back here is an incredible feeling,” said Nguyen.

Nguyen started his career with PSV Eindhoven and has also played in Denmark and Vietnam. He spent the previous two seasons with LAFC, before being selected in MLS Expansion Draft by Inter.

Gunner's favorite movies are Pulp Fiction, Iron Man (just the first one), and every James Bond film ever made. He's learning TV and cinema and hoping to always enjoy movies as he does now.
