LSU’s tight end Thaddeus Moss didn’t get drafted in the 2020 NFL Draft, but he will still get to continue the family tradition. Thaddeus, who is the son of legendary wide receiver Randy Moss, was signed by Washington Redskins as an undrafted free agent.
Moss declared for the draft after a successful season with LSU, in which he set school records for receptions with 47 and receiving yards with 570. He also helped LSU win the national championship.
While Moss didn’t get drafted, there was significant interest in him post-draft. Several teams went head to head trying to acquire him, but Redskins ended up coming with the best offer. The move to Washington might be a good choice for the 21-year-old from a football standpoint, as the team is thin on the TE position and might give him a shot sooner than later.
Thaddeus Moss had a somewhat strange college career that started with North Carolina State University. After catching just six passes in his freshman year, he decided to transfer to LSU. Moss then missed the 2017 season due to NCAA transfer rules and also didn’t play the following season due to foot injury.
Things got better for Moss last season, as he gained a more prominent role on the team. He was especially productive in the latter part of the year, scoring a 62-yard touchdown in 2019 Peach Bowl and contributing two more touchdowns in the national championship game.
Thaddeus’ father Randy Moss spent 13 seasons in NFL, playing as a wide receiver with Minnesota Vikings and New England Patriots among other teams. He was selected to Pro Football Hall of Fame in his first year of eligibility and was named to NFL 100th Anniversary All-Time Team.
