Brock Holt ended the shortest game of the season by hitting a walk-off single in the bottom of the 10th to complete a 5-4 win over the Royals. The game was a continuation of the game from August 7 that was suspended due to rain with the score tied 4-4.

Fenway Park was in a festive mood, as the Red Sox let in kids for free and adult admission was only $5 with all proceeds going to the Jimmy Fund. The enthusiastic crowd was eager to watch a family-friendly shortened version of the game as Holt ended it quicker than most people expected – after only 12 minutes!

Kids got to run the bases after the game and hot dogs sold for a dollar each on this unique day at Fenway. After Holt singled home the winning run, he ran away from his teammates trying to mob him and slid into home plate. People described the atmosphere as “youthful” and “energetic”.

Despite the game only lasting 12 minutes, a win is a win, and the Red Sox are trying to catch up in the wild card race. Every game is important at this point in the season so they will take a win any way they can get.
