Manchester City striker Erling Haaland admitted his frustration at missing out on the World Cup after his nation, Norway, was unable to qualify for the competition.
“I’ve been at home, a bit mad that I’ve not been at the World Cup,” Haaland admitted, acknowledging that the break did give him time to build up his energy.
“Watching other people score to win games at the World Cup triggered, motivated, and irritated me. I’m more hungry and more ready than ever,” Haaland explained. He went on to reveal how whenever he misses a chance, it only infuriates him and makes him more determined to score at the next chance he gets.
Haaland is the Premier League’s top scorer with 20 goals so far this season. This comes after the Norwegian striker scored a brace during Man City’s 3-1 win over Leeds.
While no player has yet scored 40 goals in a single Premier League season, Haaland looks to be on course to achieve this feat should his current form persist. The record of 34 goals is jointly held by Alan Shearer and Andy Cole.
