Real Salt Lake’s goalkeeper Nick Rimando will play one more season in MLS and then he’s saying goodbye to professional soccer. Rimando went on Twitter on Friday and shared with his followers that he is retiring in 2019.

“My 20th season will be my last. It’s time for me to step away and start my next adventure,” – Rimando wrote. “This game has given me so much, that ifs hard to put in words what this announcement means to me as I reflect on all the people and moments that have helped me reach this point. I’m truly grateful for how long I’ve played. As always I’m looking forward to competing and giving everything I can to the club and RSL’s supporters, let’s make this final go around the most memorable.”

Nick Rimando played with Miami Fusion and D.C. United early in his career, before joining Real Salt Lake in 2007. During his time in MLS, he managed to win two MLS Cups, in 2004 and 2009, while also earning five All-Star selections.

Rimando is currently the player with the most games played in MLS with 485 while also being the goalkeeper with most wins in the history of the league. He also holds the record for most saves (1,630) and shutouts (144).

The 39-year-old also received 22 call-ups for USMNT and was part of the nation’s 2014 World Cup team.

Gunner's favorite movies are Pulp Fiction, Iron Man (just the first one), and every James Bond film ever made. He's learning TV and cinema and hoping to always enjoy movies as he does now.
