Real Madrid is set to be without midfielder Isco for a yet-unspecified amount of time after the Spanish international player suffered a hamstring injury in Los Blancos’ 1-1 draw with Real Valladolid last Saturday.

Isco was forced off of the pitch at the 68-minute mark in Real Madrid’s second game of the season after experiencing discomfort in his right hamstring.

The team provided an update on the injury on Tuesday, stating, “After the tests carried out today by the Real Madrid Medical Services, our player Isco has been diagnosed with a muscular injury in the right femoral biceps. His recovery will continue to be monitored.”

The team did not specify an amount of time which Isco is expected to miss, but it is a given that he will not be able to appear in Real Madrid’s match against Villarreal on Sunday night.

The international break, which will last for two weeks after this weekend’s action, should allow Isco to recover and look to be ready for the first matchday after the dead period.

If not, Isco could be at risk of missing the first match of Real Madrid’s Champions League group stage campaign.

The team will keep a watchful eye on the evolution of Isco’s injury, hoping that he’ll return to the pitch sooner rather than later.
