RB Leipzig’s striker Timo Werner will be among the most sought-after players this summer, and it appears that three clubs have separated themselves as favorites for his signatures. According to influential Italian reporter Gianluca Di Marzio, Werner will get to choose between Seria A giants Inter and Juventus and Premier League powerhouse Liverpool.
Answering questions during a recent Q&A session on social media, Di Marzio said that Werner is almost certain to leave Leipzig this summer.
“His agents are working to find a move for him. His agents are speaking with Juventus and Inter,” explained Di Marzio.
Inter is interested in Werner as they are trying to find a replacement for Argentinian striker Lautaro Martinez, who might leave the club this summer. Martinez is a top target for Barcelona, and Inter might sell him while he is a hot commodity.
Juve, on the other side, is probably looking to rejuvenate their attack as most of their forwards are well into their 30ties. Werner, who just turned 24, would be a perfect player to start the process.
In the past, Timo Werner was linked with Liverpool as well, and Di Marzio said that the English club continues to show interest. However, considering their firepower upfront, the club might opt to strengthen other areas.
Werner was having a career season in 2019/20, scoring 27 goals in 36 matches. In 150 matches for Leipzig since 2016, he found the net 88 times.
