Pending a physical, running back Lamar Miller is expected to sign a one-year deal with the New England Patriots.

Miller previously played for the Houston Texans, although he missed the entire 2019 season after tearing his ACL in the team’s third preseason game against the Dallas Cowboys.

The Patriots need a veteran runner. The running back that was supposed to lead the rushing attack this year, Sony Michel, is currently on the active/physically unable to perform list after having surgery on his foot. On top of that, their would-be backup running back Brandon Bolden has opted out of the 2020 season.

During his three active years in Houston, Miller proved to be a valuable and productive offensive weapon, amassing 2,934 yards and 13 touchdowns on 716 carries. He also scored 5 touchdowns through the air, catching 92 passes out of the backfield. Miller has also been praised by coaches for his above-average pass protection skills.

While rehabbing, the running back has dropped his body fat and claims that he is feeling quicker and lighter thanks to the agility work he has done during the offseason. He is currently 29-years-old.
