Running back Kalen Ballage continues to have a crazy offseason.

Ballage was initially set to be released by Miami Dolphins past week, but in the last moment, he ended up being traded to New York Jets. However, the trade has been voided now, as the 24-year-old player failed his physical. Finally, Dolphins ended up following their original plan and have released the player.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Ballage suffered a hamstring injury one day before he was set to undergo his physical with the Jets. The initial deal saw him heading to New York in exchange for a seventh-round conditional selection.

Kalen Ballage entered the league in 2018 as the Dolphins’ fourth-round pick. Ballage was solid as a backup in his rookie season, getting 191 rushing yards and one touchdown from 36 attempts while also catching nine passes for 56.

Last year Ballage was poised to be the team’s No. 2 back, but he failed to impress when given the opportunity. He averaged abysmal 1.8 yards per carry and finished 2019 with just 135 rushing yards.

Despite all of this, the Jets could still make a run for Ballage after he heals. The team’s head coach Adam Gase is reportedly a big fan of the player, having coached him in Miami during his rookie season.
