The Baltimore Ravens have bolstered their secondary ahead of the training camp by adding Pro Bowl safety Eddie Jackson.
The Ravens announced the move on Friday, saying it is a one-year deal but failing to disclose the financial aspects of the agreement.
Jackson, a fourth-round selection in 2017, previously spent his entire career with the Chicago Bears. In his seven years with the franchise, he made two Pro Bowls and was First-Team All-Pro in 2018 after making six interceptions and three defensive touchdowns.
Overall, Jackson started 100 games with the Bears, totaling 459 tackles, 44 pass deflections, 15 interceptions, and six defensive touchdowns. Injuries limited his availability in the past two seasons, causing Chicago to release him as part of the cap-saving move in February.
Jackson is expected to be slotted as the Ravens’ backup free safety behind Marcus Williams. He gives the franchise a formidable safety core that also includes standout strong safety Kyle Hamilton, rookies Sanoussi Kane and Beau Brade, and fourth-year player Ar’Darius Washington.
The Ravens already had one of the best secondary units in 2023, allowing sixth-lowest yards per game in the league. The addition of Jackson is likely to make them even better in 2024.
