NBA suspended the 2019/20 season in early March, and there’s still no indication of when the league could resume its activities. This is why some players like Toronto Raptors’ guard Fred VanVleet are preparing for the worst-case scenario.

In a recent chat with reporters, VanVleet admitted he isn’t overly optimistic about the season resuming anytime soon. He even believes that the season being canceled is the most likely outcome.

“I think everybody is just preparing for the worst-case scenario, the season being canceled,” said VanVleet. “We have to do what we have to do to try to shoulder the hit as best we can for us as players and owners and the league, while also working to try to resume as best we can.”

The NBA is reportedly discussing a number of scenarios on how to resume the season, with one of them being to play games in empty gyms. While Van Vleet isn’t exactly happy about the idea of playing without fans, he’s ready to accept any solution that wouldn’t jeopardize the health of the people.

“I could play anywhere,” he added. “Do I want to play in front of no people? No, but does it really matter? At this point, I don’t think anybody is going to have a quarrel with what happens, as long as people’s health is first and foremost, which we know it probably won’t be.”

Fred VanVleet was having a career season before the NBA decided to suspend their activities. He was averaging career highs all across the board with 17.6 points, 3.8 rebounds, 6.6 assists, and 1.9 steals per game.

Gunner's favorite movies are Pulp Fiction, Iron Man (just the first one), and every James Bond film ever made. He's learning TV and cinema and hoping to always enjoy movies as he does now.
