Los Angeles Rams decided not to pick up the option for 2019 on center John Sullivan’s contract. This will make Sullivan a free agent on March 13th. The news was confirmed by ESPN.

Sullivan joined the Rams in 2017 and signed a two-year, $10.75 million extension back in 2018. By cutting the 33-year-old, Los Angeles is set to free up $5.5 million in salary cap space. He could still, however, remain with the franchise in some capacity according to ESPN’s report.

Since coming to LA, Sullivan proved himself as a reliable option on the center position, starting 31 games in his two seasons with the team. He also played in their three postseason games in 2018, including the Super Bowl match against the New England Patriots.

John Sullivan’s departure won’t leave Los Angeles Rams without a center since it is expected that they will make Brian Allen a started for 2019. Allen spent his college career with Michigan State and was drafted by the Rams in the fourth round of 2018 NFL Draft.

Sullivan started his career with Minnesota Vikings, who selected him in the sixth round of 2008 draft. He spent eight years with the Vikings, before signing a deal with the Washington Redskins in 2017 and playing one full season with the team.
