Jared Goof lobbed a pass to Gerald Everett with 1:49 to the last whistle and the Los Angeles Rams overpowered the Kansas City Chiefs 54-51 in Monday night football’s highest scoring game ever.

A game highly anticipated by all NFL fans, Monday’s match down surpassed its hype by some distance. It was the first game ever where two teams score more than 50 points. The players rushed a total of 1,001 yards. Rams’ Patrick Mahomes threw six touchdowns, Jared Goff threw four and Aaron Donald dominated defense.

“It was a whirlwind,” Rams Coach Sean McVay said. “I feel like I might need a couple of beverages to relax tonight, but it was great. This is what you love so much about the game.”

The game was epic from the start to the end but the Rams made more big plays in the second half and won the game. However, it probably doesn’t matter who won. The game was magnificent, with both teams come in with 9-1 records.

13-0 Lead

The Rams took an early 13-0 lead before the Chiefs settled. The half ended with a combined 46 points. In the second, The Rams took the lead once more before Mahomes hit Tykee Hill and Kansas scored a 73-yard touchdown. The Chiefs forced a sack moments later and got the lead back.

With five minutes left before the game ended, the Chiefs were leading 51-47. With less than two minutes left, the Rams got the lead back and outlasted the Chiefs 54-51.

“It was one of the most competitive games I’ve been a part of,” McVay described the game. “It was just a competitive game with a lot of high-caliber football in all three phases.”
