The Los Angeles Rams running back Cam Akers’ future with the franchise is once again in doubt. The Rams made Akers inactive for Week 2, with NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reporting that the team had trade discussions centered on the 24-year-old player.

Akers got 22 carries and rushed for 29 yards and one touchdown in Week 1. He followed that up with a “difficult week of practice,” according to Rapoport, and might leave Los Angeles sooner than later.

Cam Akers was close to leaving the Rams midway through last season, making a trade request following a diminished role on the offense to start the 2022 campaign. The LA team tried to honor Akers’ request but discovered that trading him was a lot harder than it seemed.

After a failed trade, Akers returned to the team and ended up having a solid season that saw him rush for 786 yards and 13 touchdowns. However, it is hard to see the same scenario taking place this season.

The Rams have found their new running back of the future in second-year back Kyren Williams, who has 104 rushing yards and three rushing TDs throughout the first two weeks of the season. Akers will likely have to find a new landing spot if he wants to play meaningful football this season, either via trade or release.

Gunner's favorite movies are Pulp Fiction, Iron Man (just the first one), and every James Bond film ever made. He's learning TV and cinema and hoping to always enjoy movies as he does now.
