Rajon Rondo doesn’t hide the fact that he wants to coach in the NBA one day. He recently made his first step towards that by joining the Milwaukee Bucks as a “guest coach” for training camp.

Rondo, who played 16 seasons in the NBA before retiring earlier this year, has always been lauded by his peers for his exceptional basketball IQ on the court. However, he knows that he still has a long way ahead of him if he wants to put it to use from the sidelines.

“There’s a lot of factors that go into coaching,” Rondo said. “You just can’t say, I’m going to be a coach, and then everything works out, and that’s how it happens. So certain personalities have to mesh, [and there’s] a lot of sacrifice. There are certain things that I’m learning. The morning meetings, the amount of hours you’re spending watching film, it’s a lot.”

Still, it appears that Rondo made such a good impression that he will remain with the organization through the 2024-25 season. His exact role remains unspecified at the moment, but the Bucks’ head coach, Doc Rivers, appears to have big plans for him.

“You’ll see him a lot. That’s all I’ll say,” Rivers told ESPN.

The two know each other well, as Rivers coached Rondo for the first seven seasons of his career while with the Boston Celtics. Rondo served as the starting point guard for the Celtics team that won the NBA title in 2008.

I am a reality TV junkie. My dream since I was a kid was to be on Big Brother, but until then you can catch me binge-watching episodes each summer.
