Not many people thought that Rajon Rondo will have a major impact in New Orleans. He proved them all wrong with an amazing performance for the Pelicans in a 128-113 win against the Brooklyn Nets. Rondo ended the game with 25 assists and became the 7th player in the NBA history to do so. He has managed to reach the number with spending just 30 minutes in the game. Rondo broke the franchise record, previously held by Chris Paul with 21 assists. The Pelicans also had 40 assists in total, combined for 48 field goals.

The No. 1 thing is we got the win. And then me, personally, I love passing the ball,” – said Rondo after the game. “I’ve been blessed to play with a lot of great players, and what I take pride in is making those guys’ jobs easier.

He now joins the likes of Jason Kidd, John Stockton, Isiah Thomas, Scott Skiles, Kevin Johnson and Nate McMillan. Kidd was the last player to achieve this feat in 1996.

It’s definitely an honor to be mentioned with those guys, especially with passing the ball, which I take pride in,” – Rondo added. “But I couldn’t have done it without my teammates making shots, so I’ve got to give those guys the credit.

Rondo’s passing skills helped his teammates clinch the third straight win, which brought the New Orleans Pelicans on the verge of the Western Conference playoff spot. Anthony Davis contributed with 33 points and 11 rebounds while DeMarcus Cousins had 27 points to go with 14 rebounds. Jrue Holiday added 23 points, while E’Twaun Moore had 20.

After being waived by the Chicago Bulls in the offseason, the 31-year-old Rondo joined the Pelicans on a one year deal, worth $3.3 million. After missing the beginning of the season due to an injury, Rondo became a regular starter for the team and already started to make his mark on the Pelicans’ game.
