Corner Eli Apple is back on the market. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Apple is once again a free agent after he and Las Vegas Raiders didn’t manage to finalize their contract agreement.

Apple and Raiders previously agreed to a one-year, $6 million contract at the start of free agency. It remains unclear why the deal fell through.

This isn’t the first case of a team and free agent failing to finalize previously agreed contract this offseason. Baltimore Ravens pulled out of the deal with defensive end Michael Brockers due to concerns over player’s health, while CB Darqueze Dennard and Jacksonville Jaguars also decided not to go through with their agreement.

Eli Apple, who was 10th overall pick in 2016, spent the previous season with New Orleans Saints, where he had a solid showing in 15 games he started. Apple finished the year with 58 tackles, four pass deflections, one forced fumble, and one quarterback hit.

After failing to smooth things out with Apple, Raiders immediately went and signed safety Damarious Randall on a one-year deal. Randall spent 2019 with Cleveland Browns, where he managed 61 tackles and 2.5 sacks.
