Many things are changing inside the Las Vegas Raiders organization ahead of the 2022 NFL season, but a quarterback won’t be one of them. The franchise just announced that their signal-caller Derek Carr signed a multi-year contract extension with the franchise.

Carr had one year at a $19.87 million base salary left on his old deal but had no guaranteed money. According to multiple reports, he now gets three extra years and an additional $121.5 million. The 31-year-old player will also get a no-trade clause as part of the deal.

Carr had a productive 2021 campaign, throwing for career-high 4,804 passing yards and adding 23 touchdowns. He also led the Raiders to a 10-7 record in a tough AFC West division and playoff appearance.

Despite this, reports indicated that Carr might be on the go due to the arrival of a new front office and coaching staff. Some believed that team’s new Josh McDaniels would opt for a fresh start at the position and bring in a quarterback that better fits his system. However, it seems like this was nothing more than a rumor as McDaniels seems all-in on Fresno product.

“Derek Carr has been the leader of this franchise for a long time, and we are thrilled to continue that relationship moving forward,” said McDaniels after the news about Carr’s extension became official. “He has been a great example of someone who always puts the team first, and we appreciate his desire to keep doing that while leading on and off the field.”

Derek Carr was the Raiders’ second-round pick in 2014. He was given the starting job in his rookie season, and since then, he only missed two regular-season games. Carr, who made the Pro Bowl team three times, passed for 31,700 yards, 193 touchdowns, and 85 interceptions since entering the league.

Gunner's favorite movies are Pulp Fiction, Iron Man (just the first one), and every James Bond film ever made. He's learning TV and cinema and hoping to always enjoy movies as he does now.
