The transfer windows are closed in England and Italy, but that doesn’t mean we won’t see some more blockbuster deals until the end of this month. According to Sport’s Lluis Miguelsanz, Paris Saint-Germain are preparing a $103 million bid for Barcelona’s midfielder Ivan Rakitic.

Rakitic, who finished as a runner-up with Croatia at 2018 World Cup, would reportedly prefer to stay in Barcelona but is willing to listen to the offer from France. PSG is hoping to sell the 30-year-old on the idea of playing in Paris by doubling his $9.2 million salary. La Liga giants, on the other hand, don’t have the financial flexibility to match that offer.

It is unclear whether Barcelona would consider the option of selling Ivan Rakitic, especially since he assumed a prominent role in their midfield after Andres Iniesta left the club. On the other hand, they might not have a choice if PSG decides to activate Rakitic’s buyout clause of $140 million.

One additional option to pull off this deal would be to include midfielder Adrien Rabiot in the agreement. Barcelona has shown a keen interest for the French international, who has one more year left on his contract with Paris Saint-Germain. Barca is ready to offer close to $60 million for Rabiot while giving him a salary of $11.5 million a year. PSG isn’t prepared to go that high and is willing to give the 23-year-old wage in the range of $9 million.

There is still a week left before the transfer windows in Spain and France close, so there is a significant chance that we could see at least one of these deals going through.
