Former Miami Dolphins’ Pro Bowl Reshad Jones recently told Palm Beach Post that he won’t play football in 2020. The 32-year-old safety also hinted that his NFL career might be over.

Jones is dealing with a neck injury and hasn’t been able to undergo a required surgery due to coronavirus pandemic. This will stop him from suiting up this season, and might also prompt him to retire.

“I don’t have any regrets about my 10-year career, saying I should have done this or should have done that,” said Jones. “If I play again is still in the air, but you know I feel like I got in and did everything I needed to do.”

Jones was released by Dolphins in March, two years before the expiration of his five-year, $60 million contract he signed back in 2017. He was limited to four games last season, contributing with 27 tackles and one pass deflection.

Reshad Jones entered the league in 2010 as Dolphins fifth-round pick in the draft. Since then, he made 128 appearances with the franchise contributed with 776 tackles, 10.5 sacks, 55 pass deflections, 21 interceptions, and two touchdowns. Jones also earned two Pro Bowl selections.

According to Jones, these numbers should make him the best safety in the past decade.

“A nine-year starter. A fifth-round draft pick. Didn’t get anything handed to me. I had to get in and work for everything. And then I get in and put the numbers up,” he added. “You go look at sacks, interceptions, tackles, go look at anybody, Eric Berry, Earl Thomas, any top safety, and there is no safety better in the last decade than Reshad Jones.”
