Gabon star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang recently signed an extension with Arsenal, which will keep him with the franchise until the summer of 2023. But, according to the 31-year-old striker, the Premier League side faces several competitors for his signature.

Speaking with Canal Football Club, Aubameyang admitted that he had a number of other suitors, including Catalan giants Barcelona.

“There were several offers, notably from Barca, but also other clubs,” said Aubameyang.

However, the vision of Arsenal’s manager Mikel Arteta and the affection he receives from the club made him commit to staying.

“My priority was to stay for two reasons: the first is the coach, Mikel Arteta, because we spoke a fair amount during the ‘lockdown’ … he convinced me, notably in terms of the project,” he added. “Of course, secondly, is the love that I receive from the fans and people at the club.”

Since arriving at Arsenal in 2017 from Borussia Dortmund, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang emerged as the club’s best player. He scored impressive 72 goals in 112 games, while also expressing leadership skills that got him the captain armband since 2019.

Backed by a new contract, Aubameyang is enjoying a great start of the new season, scoring two goals with one assist in three games.

Gunner's favorite movies are Pulp Fiction, Iron Man (just the first one), and every James Bond film ever made. He's learning TV and cinema and hoping to always enjoy movies as he does now.
