The Philadelphia 76ers have announced that they have fired coach Brett Brown after seven seasons with the team.

After an incredibly disappointing playoff performance that ended with being swept by the Boston Celtics in the first round, it appears that the firing of Brown is the first of many changes that await the franchise this offseason.

Many believe that there will be serious changes made to the team’s senior management as well. Even though general manager Elton Brand is expected to stay put, sources say that changes in front-office structure could be explored by the team.

Brown led the 76ers to the playoffs for three years in a row, however, the loss of star Ben Simmons to a knee injury before the series started significantly decreased Philadelphia’s playoff hopes this year.

Sources believe that one of the priorities this offseason will be to find a way to keep the core of Simmons and star center Joel Embiid together. The Sixers will focus on finding a head coach that is going to maximize the potential of their two stars before considering options of trading either of them and moving in another direction entirely.

As far as the coaching search is concerned, the Sixers are expected to focus on trying to get Los Angeles Clippers assistant coach Ty Lue to take the job. Lue won a championship in 2016 in his first year coaching the LeBron James-led Cleveland Cavaliers.
