Goalkeeping legend Peter Shilton has said that Liverpool needs a new goalkeeper.

This came after their current first-choice Loris Karius committed two high-profile errors which gifted Real Madrid with two goals during the Champions League final that was played in Kiev on Saturday.

The game ended off 3-1 in favor of Madrid and Zinedine Zidane’s men won their third straight Champions League title.

For the first goal, Karius threw the ball straight to Karim Benzema who tapped the ball into the net while he let Gareth Bale’s long-range effort slip through his hands for the third goal.

After the game, the German Karius broke down in tears and said: “I lost my team the game”.

Shilton told Sky Sports News: “He will have to buy him. Liverpool have struggled in the past two or three seasons with goalkeepers. Karius got in and was very consistent towards the end, we all thought Liverpool had finally solved their goalkeeping problem. But of course, it’s there again now. If he does stay at Liverpool, I hope the fans give him a chance. They’re the sort of fans that would do that, but I think it will be very difficult for him to stay at Liverpool.”
