Manchester City won’t get in the pursuit of Borussia Dortmund’s star Jadon Sancho this summer. Although it was rumored that the Premier League side eyes Sancho as a replacement for departing Leroy Sane, Man City’s manager Pep Guardiola ruled out this possibility during a recent press conference.

Sancho was with City between 2015 and 2017 but failed to play a single game with the first team before departing to Bundesliga for a reported fee of $10 million. English winger established himself as one of the best young players in the world in the meantime and has been heavily linked with a Premier League move this summer.

Playing in Man City jersey, however, appears to be out of the question as, according to Guardiola, his return to Etihad Stadium would “make no sense.”

“No, no. no, he decided to leave,” said Guardiola on Wednesday. “Why should he decide to come back? When he decided to move to Dortmund it’s not because he is going to decide to come back later. It would make no sense. He didn’t want to be here, so that is why he doesn’t want to come back here.”

After a breakthrough season in 2018/19, Jadon Sancho has arguably been even better this season. He played a total of 40 games in all competitions with Borussia and managed to score 20 goals while adding an impressive 20 assists.

Despite being just 20 years old, Sancho is reportedly now ready to take a step forward in his career and join one of the top European clubs. Manchester United and Chelsea have been frequently mentioned among his biggest suitors, but it remains to be seen whether they are willing to match Borussia’s $120 million asking price.
