Manchester City’s manager, Pep Guardiola, has no intentions of returning to his boyhood club, Barcelona. Guardiola spent most of his career as a player with Barca and coached the La Liga club between 2008 and 2012.

While speaking with reporters during the Legends Trophy golf tournament earlier this week, Guardiola was asked whether a return to Barcelona is a possibility. He previously hinted that his tenure with Man City might be coming to an end and is under contract with the Premier League side until the summer of 2025.

“It’s a door that is closed,” Guardiola responded.

The Spaniard then went on to share his views about the complications that come with serving as Barcelona’s head coach.

“The Barca bench is one of the most complicated because you have to manage many cases. In Manchester everything we do remains inside and at Barca, everything comes out,” he added.

Barcelona recently decided to fire club legend Xavi, who served as the club’s head coach since 2021. Xavi was later replaced by former Bayern Munich manager Hansi Flick.

Pep Guardiola started his managerial career with Barcelona’s B team in 2007. After just one season, he was hired as the head coach of the first team. Guardiola would go on to coach Barca for four seasons, during which he won three La Liga titles and two UEFA Champions League trophies. He ended up leaving the club following the 2011-12 season, citing tiredness as the reason for his decision.
