The speculation that has connected Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba to Real Madrid throughout the summer turned up on Sunday after his brother announced a move to Spain.

C.D. Manchego Ciudad Real, a small club in Spain’s Third Division, announced their signing of Mathias Pogba on Sunday morning. Considering the team’s location just south of Madrid, it heightened the rumors that Pogba is in the midst of a move to the Spanish capital.

The less famous Pogba, a striker, spent the 2018-19 season with Tours in France’s fourth division. He has spent time with clubs throughout Europe’s lower levels since making his professional debut in 2009 after a youth career at Celta Vigo.

The more famous Pogba has been linked to Real Madrid ever since telling media in a June interview that he was “looking for a new challenge.” The 2018 World Cup champion has spent the past three seasons with the Premier League club after establishing himself as one of the game’s top talents while with Juventus from 2012 to 2016.

His talents would undeniably be great for Real Madrid, who’s looking to add an impact player of Pogba’s caliber in its midfield. It remains to be seen whether his older brother’s signing with a Spanish club is simply a coincidence or a sign of something that will happen in the future.
