Pats’ TE Rob Gronkowski Not Worried About the Lack of Touchdowns

New England Patriots’ tight end Rob Gronkowski has been playing great in the first six games of 2018 season and already has 26 receptions and 405 receiving yards. But there is one thing Gronkowski lacks; touchdowns.

After scoring a touchdown in the season opener against Houston Texans, the 29-year-old All-Pro went on a five-game scoreless run. This is the longest period he has been without scoring since entering the league in 2010.

But Gronkowski didn’t let himself get worried about this. Instead, he will look to make himself an easy target in the red zone and get more scoring opportunities.

It is what it is,” – Gronkowski told reporters on Wednesday. “First off, I’ve got to get open. I’ve got to get out there and run better routes, and then I’ll start seeing more targets. But whatever play is called, we’re scoring points, we’re scoring down there.

Whatever I have to do to help out the team, even if the ball’s not going my way, I’ve just got to do it and just keep grinding. If I keep playing ball, keep doing what I need to do, keep playing better, I might start receiving the targets. That’s what it comes down to, so just got to get better and get open,” – he added.

Rob Gronkowski ended 2017 with eight touchdowns in 14 games played in the regular season and was one of the team’s primary targets in the red zone. This year, however, the Patriots are relying more on the running back Sony Michel to get to the red zone when inside the 10-yard line, which affected the number of times Gronkowski was targeted. Since Patriots got on a winning streak by playing this way on offense, his scoring drought could become even worse in the coming weeks.
