The New England Patriots have released wide receiver Jalen Reagor from their practice squad. The move came just hours after Reagor shared a cryptic post on Instagram that was seen as a sign of unhappiness with his role on the Pats.

Reagor, who is a former first-round pick, spent the 2023 season with New England and had five catches for 138 yards in 11 games while also serving as a kick returner. He re-signed with the Patriots in March before being released in August and swiftly brought back to the team’s practice squad.

After seeing no action in the first two weeks of the 2024 NFL season, Reagor showed his frustration on social media. He shared a popular meme of a Bugatti sports car parked next to a trailer park house via Instagram story.

Many saw the meme as Raegor referencing his situation in New England, and apparently, the team also got the message.

According to Boston Herald’s Doug Kyed, Raegor’s social media post wasn’t the main reason why the Pats let him go. The player also “expressed similar sentiments internally,” which prompted the organization to make the move.

Jalen Reagor entered the league in 2020 as the 21st overall pick by the Philadelphia Eagles. Since then, he made just 78 catches for 937 yards and four touchdowns.
