New England Patriots recently hosted kicker Nick Folk for a workout, and it appears that the 35-year-old veteran got a contract out of this visit. The Pats beat writer Henry McKenna reports that Folk took part in the team’s practice on Monday, which should make his signing official.

Folk already spent a portion of the 2019 season on Gillette Stadium, playing eight games and converting 16 out of his 19 field goal attempts. He was 100 percent on extra points, going 13 out of 13.

The Pats drafted Marshall’s Justin Rohrwasser in the fifth round of this year’s draft and were set to make him their starting kicker for 2020. However, the rookie is apparently dealing with an injury and hasn’t kicked in the last four practices, which prompted New England to get themselves insurance by acquiring Folk.

Nick Folk entered the league in 2007 as the Dallas Cowboys’ sixth-round pick and immediately went on to get a Pro Bowl selection during his rookie campaign. He remained in Dallas for three seasons, before embarking on stints with New York Jets and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
