New England Patriots are taking a page from New Orleans Saints book. After seeing how Saints managed to use quarterback Taysom Hill’s versatility to their advantage, now the Pats will try to do the same with QB Danny Etling.

According to ESPN’s Mike Reiss, Etling will switch to the wide receiver position for the 2019 NFL season. The 25-year-old, who was Pats’ seventh-round pick in 2018, hasn’t played a single snap in the regular season last year so the switch might prove beneficial for his further NFL career.

“Everyone has a lot of different roles on this team, and I’m no exception,” – said Etling about the switch. “I’m excited to continue to keep trying to find a different role for myself and do whatever the coaches ask me to do.”

Etling’s teammates also believe that he could be productive in his new role.

“We always knew Danny could play different positions,” – said WR Phillip Dorsett. “I always used to joke with him and call him Taysom Hill.”

This isn’t the first time that the New England Patriots find new positions for their players. The 2018 Super Bowl MVP Julian Edelman played QB on college but Pats’ coach Bill Belichick decided to switch him to a wide receiver and we know how that turned out. Belichick also successfully used Troy Brown on multiple positions in both offense and defense.
