New England Patriots’ head coach Bill Belichick holds the NFL’s record for most post season games coached with 40 and is looking to extend it on Sunday in AFC Championship game against the Kansas City Chiefs. Still, despite this overwhelming playoff experience, and the fact that he has been in the league since 1975, Belichick is still nervous before every game he coaches.

According to the 66-year-old, he has the nerves every week his team plays, whether it’s a regular season game or a playoff match.

“Yeah, every week. They all count in this league,” – Belichick told reporters on Friday. “Just let me know the next game that doesn’t matter, so I can take that into account.”

“Just let me know the ones that don’t matter, I’ll make sure I don’t get excited for those,” – he added. “Nervous? Sure. You want to go out there and do well. There’s an anxiety. We all have things in the game that we have to do. You want to perform them well, not let your team down, because everyone is counting on you to do your job, and you’re counting on everybody else to do theirs.”

Bill Belichick’s 41 postseason games are well ahead of the competition, with Tom Landry and Don Shula being tied on the second place with 36. The game against the Chiefs will also be Belichick’s 13th conference championship game, which is the most all-time ahead of Landry and Shula who respectively have 10 and seven such games.
