New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman is getting a reward for helping his team lift another Super Bowl trophy last season. According to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, Patriots and Edelman, who won Super Bowl LIII MVP honors, are currently in the process of finalizing two-year contract extension.

The extension is reportedly worth $18 million with $12 million guaranteed and $8 million signing bonus. Edelman was set to earn $2 million in 2019 under his current contract.

Julian Edelman became a member of the New England Patriots in 2009 when he was taken in the seventh round of that year’s draft. After several years of being in and out of the rotation, Edelman had his breakthrough season in 2013 when he recorded 105 receptions for 1,056 yards and six touchdowns.

Since then, Edelman established himself as quarterback Tom Brady’s most reliable target and the two developed a partnership that helped New England to three Super Bowls in six years.

Over the course of his NFL career, Edelman appeared in 115 games (71 as a starter) in which he recorded 499 catches for 5,390 yards and 30 TDs. He also added 2,593 and four touchdowns as a kick and punt returner.

Ben loves sports so much but prefers watching other people do it. He prefers not to share what teams he's supporting but he is willing to admit that Lebron James is, in fact, the king.
