Pat Connaughton has agreed to a three-year, $28.5 million extension including a player option with the Milwaukee Bucks, the player’s agents, Jeff Schwartz and Jordan Gertler of Excel Basketball, confirmed on Tuesday. This comes after the 29-year-old guard exercised his option to return to the team for the 2022-23 NBA season.
As a result, the player’s combined four-year deal is worth $34 million.
A 2015 second-round pick out of Notre Dame, Connaughton enjoyed his best season to date in 2021-22, averaging career highs of 9.5 points and 26.5 minutes as well as a 3-point percentage of 39.5%.
Since first signing for the Bucks, Connaughton has emerged as a staple member of the team’s rotation and has played a major role in the team’s emergence as a major title contender over the past few seasons.
The 6-foot-5 guard has significantly improved his performance over the past two seasons, shooting 45% on corner 3s and taking far more 3-point shots. This, despite missing a month of the season due to a hand injury. After returning to the court, the 29-year-old assisted the Bucks in advancing to the second round of the playoffs.
