Being listed as the fifth option on Green Bay Packers’ outside linebacker depth chart, Reggie Gilbert wasn’t poised to have an eventful season in 2019. Things, however, might change now as Packers decided to trade him to Tennessee Titans.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Packers received the seventh-round pick from Titans in exchange for Gilbert. The 26-year-old is currently dealing with a knee injury but should return in time for the season opener.

Gilbert was signed by the Packers as an undrafted agent in 2016 but didn’t see much action in his first two years with the organization. In 2018, however, he ended playing all 16 games and contributing with 38 tackles, 2.5 sacks, two pass deflections, and one fumble recovery.

While Tennessee Titans are covered on outside linebacker position starters-wise, having Cameron Wake and Harold Landry III, they lacked depth when it comes to backup players. The organization hoped that rookie D’Andre Walker might fill this position, but he ended up suffering an injury in training camp and landed on Injured Reserve.

Green Bay, on the other side, got stacked on pass rush through free agency and draft, and will most likely save Gilbert’s roster spot in order to address other needs.

Gunner's favorite movies are Pulp Fiction, Iron Man (just the first one), and every James Bond film ever made. He's learning TV and cinema and hoping to always enjoy movies as he does now.
