It’s been more than a month since Aaron Rodgers publicly said that he wants to leave the Green Bay Packers and play for the New York Jets. But despite this, the two teams seem nowhere near completing a trade that would actually make this happen.

Recent reports indicated that the standstill had been caused by the Packers’ desire to get significant compensation for the four-time NFL MVP and the Jets’ unwillingness to offer that kind of package. According to Yahoo Sports’ Charles Robinson, Green Bay’s latest request was for a second-round selection in 2023 and a first-round pick next year.

“The Packers are holding out for what they want right now,” Robinson shared on ESPN’s Wilde and Tausch show. “And that’s a problem with the Jets and more specifically, Jets ownership.”

Robinson’s reveal comes just days after ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that the Packers and the Jets haven’t had “a whole lot of conversation” about Rodgers in recent weeks.

The overall sentiment is that the two teams, especially the Packers, would like to complete the trade before the 2023 NFL Draft. But if neither side budges, then the standoff could continue in upcoming months and even be carried off into the training camp.
