The Green Bay Packers are hopeful they won’t have to play too many games without their Pro Bowl cornerback Jaire Alexander. According to the team’s head coach Matt LaFleur, Alexander won’t have surgery on his injured shoulder, which will allow him to get back on the field “in a matter of weeks.”

Alexander got hurt while making a tackle in the third quarter of last week’s win over the Pittsburgh Steelers. The injury proved to be worse than the Packers believed, and there was a possibility that the 24-year-old star would have to have a procedure that would sideline him for the remainder of the season.

Eventually, Green Bay got other opinions on the player’s injury after which the two sides decided to try and avoid the procedure to ensure that Alexander returns at some point in 2021.

“It’s just one of those things we’re going to let heal and see where it’s at down the line before making that determination,” LaFleur said via the Packers’ official website. “But we’re hopeful that it’ll heal the right way, and he’ll be back with us in a matter of weeks.”

The good news for the Packers is that veteran Kevin King will be available after missing the previous two weeks due to a concussion. King is expected to step in for Alexander and start alongside rookie Eric Stokes, whom Green Bay drafted in the first-round pick of the 2021 NFL Draft.

Ben loves sports so much but prefers watching other people do it. He prefers not to share what teams he's supporting but he is willing to admit that Lebron James is, in fact, the king.
