Back in July, offensive tackle La’el Collins told reporters that he wants to stay with the Dallas Cowboys for the rest of his career. Cowboys obviously took a hint, as they signed Collins to a five-year extension on Tuesday.

Reportedly, Collins’ extension is worth $50 million with $35 million guaranteed. This new deal will keep the 26-year-old with the organization at least through 2024.

“It’s good to get him agreed to for the long term,” – said Cowboys’ owner and general manager, Jerry Jones. “I wouldn’t be surprised at all, think he’ll finish his career here as a Dallas Cowboy. I like everything about him. He’s an outstanding athlete. He works hard. He has played some guard for us, but the main thing is he’s a stalwart for us at tackle.”

La’el Collins played out his college career at LSU and was projected to be the first-round pick in the 2015 NFL Draft. However, after some off-the-field issues, he went undrafted, which Cowboys used to sign him as a free agent.

After some early struggles, Collins managed to get into the Cowboys rotation during his first season with the team and became a starter by his sophomore year. He started every Cowboys’ game in the previous two seasons.
