It seems like Orlando City SC really mean business at the start of 2019 MLS season. After signing former Manchester United winger Nani, Orlando now managed to add another significant member to their roster by signing Swedish international defender Robin Jansson.

Jansson comes to MLS after playing with AIK from Sweden’s Allsvenskan, where he spent 12 months and helped the team to win their first national title in nine years.

The deal was confirmed on Orlando City’s official social media.

“Robin is a guy that we’re excited to bring to Orlando after the success he has had overseas in Sweden,” – said Orlando City executive vice president of soccer operations Luiz Muzzi in a statement. “This signing continues to build depth and competition within our group for the 2019 season.”

After inking the deal, Jansson went on social media and expressed his excitement about joining the team.

“Exciting new challenge with @OrlandoCitySC !” – the 27-year-old wrote on Twitter. “I’m happy to be here and looking forward to the season. Massive thanks to my managers and team at vmcgroup for making this transfer come true and giving me the opportunity to continue living my dream!”

Robin Jansson spent his entire career in native Sweden, where he played for several clubs including Bengtsfors IF, IK Oddevold, and AIK. He also received his first call up to Sweden’s national soccer team in 2019.
