New York City FC is adding depth to their defensive line. The club announced on Monday that they have acquired defender Eric Miller from Minnesota United.

In order to get Miller, NYCFC sent $50,000 of General Allocation Money (GAM) to Minnesota.

“One of our goals during the summer transfer window was to add depth at the right back position and Eric is a player who can come in and immediately strengthen our team. ” – said NYCFC sporting director Claudio Reyna. “He’s a versatile player who performs well in different positions which gives our roster added flexibility when playing varying systems.”

Miller made 24 appearances with Minnesota in the past two years but struggled to break into the rotation this season. The 26-year-old only made two appearances in 2019 and it became evident that he is no longer in coach Adrian Paul Heath’s plans.

Eric Miller has a lot of MLS experience, having also played with Montreal Impact and Colorado Rapids earlier in his career. He played a total of 110 appearances in the league.

Ben loves sports so much but prefers watching other people do it. He prefers not to share what teams he's supporting but he is willing to admit that Lebron James is, in fact, the king.
