New York Red Bulls signed Cameroon international striker Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting to a Designated Player deal, the MLS side announced on Wednesday.

Choupo-Moting arrives as a free agent following a four-year stint with the Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich. He will ink a two-year deal to play for the Red Bulls, with the agreement containing an option for the 2027 MLS season.

“We are excited to add a player of Maxim’s caliber to our roster,” Red Bulls’ head of sport Jochen Schneider said in a statement. “Maxim is a great player, a winner and his experience in Europe’s top leagues will be greatly important to our club in 2025 and beyond.”

Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting spent most of his professional career in the Bundesliga, playing for Mainz 05, Schalke 04, and Bayern. He won three Bundesliga titles with Bayern and scored 38 goals before leaving the club after his contract expired following the end of the 2023-24 season.

Outside Germany, Choupo-Moting played for Stoke City and Paris Saint-Germain. During his time with PSG, he won two Ligue 1 titles and appeared in UEFA Champions League Finals in 2019–20.

Choupo-Moting has been a Cameroon international since 2010 and has since made 73 international appearances while scoring 20 goals.
