Current Paris Saint-Germain star Neymar hasn’t quite had the experience in the French capital that he had wished for. After three underwhelming and injury-plagued seasons, it appears that both the electric forward and his former team have mutual interest in a reunion.

Spanish newspaper SPORT has reported that Neymar has communicated his desire to return to Spain to Barcelona, whose board reportedly views his return to the team favorably.

With Neymar currently appearing unlikely to sign a contract extension with PSG, this could force the team’s ownership into selling him for a huge fee back to his former club, or perhaps to another destination.

Neymar spent five seasons playing for FC Barcelona, a club that he joined after leaving his native Brazil at the age of 21. While with the Blaugrana, he turned into one of the most electric and highly-rated players in the world, scoring 68 goals in 123 games while bringing home a Champions League trophy as well as two La Liga titles.

The forward has been productive when on the field at PSG, bagging 47 goals in only 52 games. The problem, however, has been his lack of playing time due to injuries and the team’s lack of Champions League success.

This opens the possibility for a Neymar return to Barcelona, but we’ll just have to keep our eyes on how things develop during the summer transfer window.
