FC Cincinnati is reportedly interested in adding Newcastle United midfielder Kyle Scott to their roster ahead of the 2021 MLS season. The club will bring in Scott on trial and will make their final decision after the youngster spends several weeks with them.

Scott arrived to the United States on Friday and will spend seven days in quarantine before joining his potential teammates. He is expected to take part in Cincinnati’s training camp and should also get a look at the upcoming friendlies.

According to sources, Newcastle previously informed Scott that they wouldn’t extend his contract, which influenced the agreement with the MLS squad. However, the Premier League club will demand a sell-on percentage clause if they are to allow the 23-year-old player to depart earlier.

FC Cincinnati head coach Jaap Stam is believed to be Scott’s admirer and even tried to acquire him while he was the manager of Reading. The player is also keen to collaborate with Stam, viewing the opportunity as a way to put his career back on track.

Kyle Scott spent his youth career with Chelsea, joining the club’s academy in 2007. He made one appearance during his time there before signing with Newcastle. Scott also had a short stint with Dutch side Telstar.

On the international level, Scott played for youth teams of England, Ireland, and the United States.
