Major League Baseball is looking to expand its slate of international games in the future with plans to play in Paris, France, in 2025. And as it turns out, the league won’t have an issue finding interested teams to make the trip.

According to Associated Press, the New York Yankees want to be one of the first teams to play in Paris. The franchise already volunteered to the league, with Yankees players giving their stamp of approval.

“That’s cool. It sounds pretty exciting,” ace Gerrit Cole said when asked about it. “That’s going to be a really special opportunity.”

Yankees are no stranger to playing international games, having played in Tokyo in 2004 and in London in 2019. The league hasn’t played internationally since the Yanks’ London games, which saw the New York team getting back-to-back wins over Boston Red Sox.

The MLB plans to resume its international series in 2023 in London after the 2020’s St. Louis Cardinals vs. Chicago Cubs matchup was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic. These two teams are the most likely to head to the UK next year, although the league hasn’t made any confirmation just yet.

Besides the London games, which should also take place in 2024 and 2026, the league plans to play in Mexico City between 2023 and 2026. Major League Baseball is set to return to Tokyo as well in 2025.
