Undrafted rookie Allonzo Trier made the most out of his two-way contract with the New York Knicks and inked a fully-guaranteed deal on Thursday. According to ESPN‘s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Knicks gave Trier a two-year contract worth around $7 million. A second year is a team option.

The news was confirmed on Knicks’ official social media accounts.

Allonzo Trier played three years of college basketball with Arizona Wildcats, before entering the 2018 NBA Draft. Although projected to be a mid-second round pick, Trier ended up going undrafted. Still, he was picked up the next day by the New York Knicks and signed on a two-way contract with Westchester Knicks, the Knicks’ NBA G League affiliate.

Trier quickly proved that he deserves a chance in the NBA, playing quality minutes in the team’s rotation through the first 27 games of the season. He currently averages 11.3 points, 3.1 rebounds and 1.9 assists, which prompted the Knicks to lock him on a longer deal.

In order to free a roster spot for Allonzo Trier, New York waived guard Ron Baker. Baker, who was another player Knicks’ signed as an undrafted free agent in 2016, was set to become a restricted free agent in the summer of 2019.

Ron is a true professional, and we thank him for all of his contributions during his time with the Knicks,” – said Knicks president Steve Mills in a statement. “His dedication and passion for the game are unquestioned and have been truly appreciated by our fans and organization.

I am a reality TV junkie. My dream since I was a kid was to be on Big Brother, but until then you can catch me binge-watching episodes each summer.
