Jake Bailey has agreed to sign a new four-year deal with the New England Patriots worth $13.5 million. The contract includes $6.5 fully guaranteed.

Prior to signing the new contract, Bailey was entering the final year of his Rookie contract, carrying a salary cap of $4.05 million, which happened to be the second-highest of all NFL punters. The new contract will see his cap drop to $1.85 million, thereby raising the Patriots’ overall cap up to $4.75 million.

The decision to sign Bailey on a new contract comes as no surprise given his 49 punts and 47.3-yard average; the eighth best in the NFL overall. He is widely renowned for his powerful left leg which has come to the Patriots’ rescue especially during the colder and windier weather conditions in New England during the later stages of the NFL season.

A first-team All-Pro in 2020, this was a breakthrough season for Bailey, during which he punted for a 48.7 average and 45.6 net and conceded just five touchbacks.
