New England Revolution decided to take care of their goalkeepers these past few days. After singing Matt Turner to a contract extension earlier this week, Revolution also gave veteran Brad Knighton a new deal.

Knighton is one of the longest-tenured Revolution players, currently being in his ninth season with the team.

“I’m pleased that we have been able to reach a new contract agreement with Brad Knighton. Brad is an exceptional teammate and a proven goalkeeper in our league,” – said Revolution’ sporting director and head coach Bruce Arena in a statement. “With the signing of Brad and Matt Turner, I feel we have solidified our goalkeeping position at the Revolution for a number of years.”

Brad Knighton made his MLS debut with New England Revolution in 2007 and remained three seasons with the team before being picked up by Philadelphia Union in a 2009 MLS Expansion Draft. He spent just one season with Union, making eight appearances, before being waived.

Knighton then embarked on a season-long stint in North American Soccer League with Carolina RailHawks FC, before making an MLS comeback with Vancouver Whitecaps. After two years with Whitecaps, where he established himself as team’s starting goalie, he was traded to New England Revolution in 2013.

Ben loves sports so much but prefers watching other people do it. He prefers not to share what teams he's supporting but he is willing to admit that Lebron James is, in fact, the king.
