Brooklyn Nets’ general manager Sean Marks confirmed his doubts about Kevin Durant’s playtime this season. He did, however, explain that it will ultimately be down to Durant himself to decide whether or not he feels fit enough to play later on in the Nets’ season.

This update was made with regards to Durant’s Achilles injury which he received while playing for the Golden State Warriors in the NBA Finals earlier in the year. He soon after signed for the Nets in July.

Marks expanded on his statement by explaining that Durant’s recovery from surgery is going well and that he believes that Durant has the desire to feature for the Nets this season. He did, however, forewarn that the team is taking a long term approach with regards to the injury and that they are not betting on Durant returning to action any time soon.

In Durant’s absence, the Nets will most likely rely on Kyrie Irving as a replacement. Irving was also signed in the off-season, after a respectable showing for the Boston Celtics last season. While Irving was also injured during a pickup game recently, his injury is not expected to be serious.
