Iman Shumpert’s stint with Brooklyn Nets is over after just 13 games. The Nets confirmed they had released Shumpert in a press release on Thursday.

Shumpert joined the Nets in early November after the team experienced several injuries. Nets have now decided to move on from him because they need a roster spot for forward Wilson Chandler. Chandler is serving a 25-games suspension, which is set to end soon.

Shumpert was a significant bench player for Nets during his time with the organization, averaging 4.2 points and 2.6 rebounds per game. He also contributed to Brooklyn’s better defense performances in the past few weeks. Still, the team decided to focus on younger players like Dzanan Musa and Rodions Kurucs.

“The @BrooklynNets are a first class organization from top to bottom. It was great to be with you guys even for the short stay! I’m around,” Shumpert wrote on Twitter after the move was made official.

Iman Shumpert shouldn’t be on the market for too long as he is a proven veteran who can provide a spark from the bench for teams with playoff aspirations. He previously played with New York Knicks, Cleveland Cavaliers, Sacramento Kings, and Houston Rockets. Shumpert’s career averages include 7.2 points, 3.3 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 1.1 steals per game.
