Vegas Golden Knights announced on Thursday that they have signed their 2017’s fifth-round pick Jack Dugan for 2020/21 season. Dugan, who was NCAA’s points leader last season, inked a two-year, entry-level deal.

Dugan played 34 games with Providence College this past season, scoring 10 goals and 42 assists for a total of 52 points. He earned the Hockey East First All-Star Team selection and AHCA First All-American Team honors.

Speaking with the team’s official website, Golden Knights’ general manager Kelly McCrimmon said that the organization thought highly of Dugan from the moment they drafted him.

“We have considered Jack to be a great prospect right from the time we drafted him,” McCrimmon said. “This contract gives him an opportunity to turn pro with our organization.”

Dugan, on the other hand, is excited to get a chance to play in the best hockey league in the world.

“It’s an amazing feeling,” said Dugan. “Obviously I think that any player in my position, anyone that’s played hockey growing up has dreamed of playing in the NHL, so it might be a little cliche, but it truly is a dream come true and I couldn’t be happier.”

Unfortunately for Vegas, Jack Dugan won’t be at the team’s disposal for the Stanley Cup Playoffs. However, he will join the team regardless and is likely to play during scrimmage games.
